The top-ranked University of Minnesota women’s hockey team skated by rival Wisconsin yesterday 5-1. The win the 34th straight for the Golden Gophers, which extended their NCAA record for consecutive games without a defeat. Minnesota swept Wisconsin in a road series for the first time since 2004, and won all the regular season games in the series for the first time since 2000. The defending national champ Minnesota team is now 26-and-0 on the season. Goaltender Noora Raty [[ NOR-uh Ra-TOO ]] notched her 100th career win with the victory yesterday. That ties Raty for the most career wins in NCAA women’s hockey history. Minnesota hosts Minnesota-Duluth this coming weekend.

The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team will have a rare Monday night game this evening when they welcome Illinois to Williams Arena. Minnesota is 13-and-7 overall and 2-and-4 in the Big Ten. The Fighting Illini are 10-and-8 overall and 3-and-3 in the league. The game tips tonight at 8 p.m.

Wisconsin’s Traevon (TRAY-von) Jackson hit the game-winning shot with 2.1-seconds to play as Wisconsin knocked off 14th-ranked Minnesota 45-44 on Saturday in Madison. Andre Hollins scored a game-high 20 points for the Golden Gophers, who have lost four straight to dip to 15-and-5 and 3-and-4 in the Big Ten. Minnesota hosts Nebraska tomorrow night.
