Drought To Impact Prices 05 Jan 13

The ongoing drought continues to affect the nation’s agricultural economy, especially livestock producers. Farm Management Analyst Kent Thiesse of Lake Crystal says that livestock producers were faced with sky-high prices last year and many farmers had to let go of their livestock herds.  The result is a tighter supply of livestock that will most likely lead to higher milk and meat prices at the grocery store. Thiesse says that the higher prices will probably come mid to late this year, and possibly continue rising into 2014.
