Governor Dayton has announced the date for a special election to fill the Minnesota House seat vacated by Democrat Terry Morrow. The election will be held on Tuesday, February 12th to fill the vacancy in District 19A. If a special primary election is needed it will be held on Tuesday, January 29th. The candidate filing period begins today (WED) and ends next Tuesday at 5pm. Candidates may file with either the Blue Earth, Le Sueur or Nicollet County Auditors or the Minnesota Secretary of State office. So far, 3 Democrats, 3 Republicans, and 1 Independence Party candidate have announced their intentions to run. District Republicans are holding an endorsement convention Thursday evening. The Independence Party has announced that its endorsement convention will take place Saturday evening, and the DFL convention will take place next Saturday, January 19th.
