The 2013 Brown County Dairy Princess coronation ceremony takes place this (SAT) afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. The event is sponsored by the Brown County American Dairy Association, and also includes the recognition of the 2013 Dairy Ambassadors. Dairy Princess candidates are judged on their communication and presentation skills; personality; enthusiasm for dairy promotion, and general knowledge of the dairy industry. The 2013 candidates are Sleepy Eye residents Katelyn Johnson, the daughter of Lee and Judy Johnson, and Molly Lax, the daughter of Rick and Monica Lax. Brown County’s Dairy Ambassadors for 2013 are Sabrina Portner, Rebecca and Mary Rosenhammer, Bethany Seifert, and Maggie Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye. The day begins with a luncheon at noon, followed by a joint meeting of the Nicollet and Brown County Dairy Producers at 1pm, and the coronation of the new princesses at 2pm. The Brown County ADA will also be honoring its 2012 Dairy Princess, Laura Rosenhammer, who was a finalist for Princess Kay of the Milky Way last August at the Minnesota State Fair.
