The American Red Cross is holding several blood drives around the area this week as “National Blood Donor Month” continues. Around 44,000 pints of blood are needed every day in the US to help treat trauma victims, surgery patients, organ transplant recipients, premature babies and cancer patients. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Danube Community Center from 2 to 7pm on Tuesday, at Wabasso High School from 9am to 2pm and the Belle Plaine Vets Club from 1 to 7 on Wednesday, at the Montgomery American Legion from 1 to 7 on Thursday, and at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter from 8am to 7pm on Friday. For more information on Giving The Gift Of Life, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or log on to www.redcrossblood.org.
