The mayor of St. Peter has announced that he will run for the District 19A Minnesota House seat vacated by Democrat Terry Morrow. Tim Strand is the 4th candidate to announce that he will seek the DFL endorsement for the seat. He has been the mayor of St. Peter for seven years, and served two years on the St. Peter City Council before becoming mayor. He says that his work with budgets and city government gives him the experience needed to go to the state capitol. The special election for the seat has been set for February 12th, and the filing period for interested candidates is now open. District 19A Republicans are holding their endorsement convention for the seat this (THU) evening. The Independence Party is holding its endorsement convention this Saturday, and the DFL convention will take place next Saturday, January 19th.
