Water Treatment Scam Alert 27 Dec 12

State Health Department officials are urging homeowners to beware of deceptive sales pitches and scare tactics being using by some companies to sell expensive and unnecessary water treatment systems. Health Department Spokesperson Stew Thornley says that a salesperson apparently claimed to be working with the Minnesota Department of Health, and told the homeowner that there was grant money available. He says that some residents have reported having green bottles left on their doorsteps with a request for a water sample as well, and that homeowners should deal only with well-established companies and call the Health Department if they have questions.
