Five people made an appearance in Redwood County Court this week in connection with a recent theft from the Redwood Falls Wal-Mart. The defendants – four of them women – face multiple felony charges in connection with the December 11th crime. 42-year-old Grett Maria Maxwell and 25-year-old Lasonya Denise Miles, both of Minneapolis, as well as 23-year-old Tiara Lashon Ligon of Brooklyn Park are accused of entering the store and stealing electronics and other items. Those items were then allegedly loaded into a vehicle owned by 24-year-old Courtney Maria Green of Minneapolis, with help from 29-year-old Kevin Leon Bishop of Minneapolis. An off-duty Redwood police officer spotted the suspect vehicle, and multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in apprehending the suspects after a car chase that ended in Gibbon. Approximately $9,000 worth of items stolen from the Redwood Wal-Mart, as well as items taken from the Marshal Wal-Mart were reportedly found in the vehicle. Charges are possible in Lyon County as well. There were similar incidents at the Wal-Marts in Hutchinson and Fairmont recently that reportedly involved a group of women as well, but authorities are unsure if all of these crimes are connected.
