The St. Peter Regional Treatment Center has been found negligent in its treatment of a patient, and has been fined $1,200 for maltreatment. The incident occurred on November 15th of 2011, and involved clothing and a mattress being withheld from a patient that had gotten out of control. The patient reportedly wanted food, but was not allowed, and then began hurling chairs against a Plexiglas window and threatening staff before placing a mattress over the window to block the sight of hospital staff. The Minnesota Department of Human Services issued a report on the incident on Wednesday. The report also considered maltreatment by the physician in charge, but deemed the evidence inconclusive. Both the physician and the health care professional investigated in the report no longer work at the treatment center.
