Minnesota’s agricultural exports hit a record $6.8-billion in 2011. That’s up 13% from the year before. Minnesota Department of Ag Chief Economist Su Ye says the top export commodities for Minnesota are soybeans, corn, pork and wheat — and Minnesota’s largest ag export markets are China, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Other top exported commodities include, sugar, dairy products and feeds. Those commodities accounted for more than 80% of the state’s total ag exports. Minnesota is the sixth largest agricultural exporter in the US, and ag exports support more than 54,000 jobs in the state.
