There may not be much ice on area lakes just yet, but the Polar Bear Plunge in St. Peter is now less than 2 months away. The Polar Bear Plunge is hosted by Minnesota law enforcement agencies to benefit the Special Olympics, meaning that participants are “Freezin’ For A Reason.” Each Polar Bear Plunge participant is expected to raise a minimum of $75, and last winter a total of $2.85-million was raised in Minnesota. In St. Peter, more than 600 plungers took part in the event this year, and raised approximately $100,000. There are 16 Polar Bear Plunge events taking place across the state in January through March. St. Peter’s Plunge is on February 2nd. For more information, and to register yourself or a team, visit the websitewww.plungemn.org.
