New Ulm Tax Levy Approved 05 Dec 12

The New Ulm City Council approved a property tax levy increase of just-over 4% for 2013 following a Truth In Taxation hearing Tuesday evening. New Ulm’s budget for next year was set at just under $20.5-million on Tuesday as well, which is a little more than 5% reduction over this year’s budget. The tax levy increase for New Ulm next year was kept down through a series of cuts and reductions to subsidies. City departments that are facing budget cuts next year include: administration, police, fire, street, engineering, community access television and the New Ulm airport. Organizations that will see reductions in their subsidies from the city include: the Bavarian Blast festival, Healthy Community/Healthy Youth, the Lind House Association, the Wanda Gag House and the Fair Grounds Association. The New Ulm 2013 budget and tax levy will be up for final approval during the December 18th city council meeting
