The New Ulm District 88 School Board is expected to consider the approval of an agreement to sell the former New Ulm Middle School property during its meeting this (THU) evening. Eagle Development LLC is the highest bidder for the sale of the middle school building with a $100,000 proposal. The group would convert the property into senior apartments, and lease the school auditorium to the school district through a 10-year agreement. Only about 20% of the building is currently in use. In other business this evening, the District 88 School Board will consider giving its final approval to the district’s budget and tax levy for the coming year. The proposed tax levy for District 88 for next year is a more-than 23% increase over this year, mainly due to the $575 per-pupil levy referendum approved by district voters last month.
