MN Internet Task Force Ideas 12 Dec 12

A tax credit to encourage broadband providers to build in unserved areas is the key recommendation from a task force commissioned by Governor Dayton to find ways of improving internet service in Greater Minnesota. The panel also suggests a sales tax exemption for fiber-optic and broadband equipment, and a program to coordinate rural broadband installation with state and federal programs. Officials say Internet speed in many rural areas of Minnesota still lags behind data rates available in the Twin Cities metro area.
