The Lower Sioux Indian Community in Morton is planning a multi-million dollar renovation project at Jackpot Junction Hotel and Casino. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community recently approved a $48-million loan for the Lower Sioux Community, with around half of it going towards debt consolidation and the other half for a redevelopment project for Jackpot Junction that could start as soon as this coming May. The project would include a major remodeling of the 75,000 square-foot casino, which was originally built in 1984, and would include a new parking lot and main entrance, additional gaming space and upgrades to the Casino itself. The existing casino would remain open during the construction. Lower Sioux Community members still need to approve the final plans and cost estimates before the project can proceed.
