The New Ulm District 88 School Board is holding a Truth In Taxation hearing this (THU) evening, and members of the public will have an opportunity to comment. In September the school board approved the maximum tax levy amount allowed by law at $4.8-million, which is actually a more-than 2% decrease from this year’s tax levy. The operating levy is down by more than 3% next year as well. The hearing begins at 7pm today at the District Administrative Center in New Ulm. Following the Truth In Taxation hearing, the District 88 board will receive a financial audit for the district for last year as well, and immediately following the meeting a closed session will be held to discuss the sale of the former middle school.
