The Brown County Board on Tuesday approved the county’s budget and tax levy for 2013, and OK’d raises for themselves for next year as well. County Commissioners approved a $550 per-year pay increase for themselves on a vote of 3-2, with Dick Seeboth and Jim Berg voting against the measure. The action also increased the Board Chair’s additional pay from $500 to $1,000 a year. Brown County Commissioners will now earn $21,800 annually, with their per-diem pay remaining unchanged at $60 per-meeting. The Board also approved salary hikes of around 2% for the county sheriff, auditor-treasurer, county recorder, family services director, highway engineer, and county administrator. The 2013 Brown County property tax levy is a little-less than a 2% increase over this year, while the county’s budget is a 12% increase.
