A New Ulm man was seriously injured in a car crash Wednesday morning. 38-year-old Gregg Asmus was driving a 1995 Olds 88 southbound on North Payne Street in New Ulm when the vehicle collided with a westbound Ford Windstar minivan at the intersection with 10th North Street at about 7:45am. Asmus suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries, that reportedly include a ruptured spleen, broken rib and punctured lung. The driver of the minivan, 16-year-old Chase Rader of New Ulm was not hurt, although he and his 16-year-old passenger received minor chemical burns from the vehicle’s airbags. Both vehicles are likely totaled.
