Brodkorb Legal Fees Mounting 13 Dec 12

A committee of the Republican-controlled Minnesota Senate is meeting this (THU) afternoon to approve paying an additional $90,000 in legal bills surrounding the Michael Brodkorb case. The ex-staffer sued the state Senate, claiming gender discrimination when he was fired a year ago during a sex scandal that resulted in the ouster of then Majority Leader Amy Koch. The Senate’s legal bills in the case are now approaching $200,000, meaning that the total legal costs are now more than twice as much as Brodkorb’s $90,000 annual salary as a communications aide to Senate Republicans. Democrats take control of the Senate when the Minnesota Legislature convenes on January 8th.
