The NHL’s Winter Classic is in jeopardy. The league is expected to cancel the annual outdoor game either today or tomorrow due to the ongoing labor stalemate. This year’s Winter Classic features the Detroit Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 1st at Michigan Stadium. According to AnnArbor.com, the NHL will owe the University of Michigan 100-thousand dollars if the game is canceled by Friday, 250-thousand dollars if cancelled by December 7th and an additional one-million if cancelled after that. The league has already cancelled regular season games through November 30th due to the lockout and no new labor talks are currently scheduled. The Minnesota Wild were to have hosted the defending NHL champion Los Angeles Kings tonight in St. Paul.
