A Mankato man is facing felony charges in Blue Earth County Court for allegedly having a backpack full of synthetic marijuana, a substance which was legal just a few months ago. 24-year-old Kenneth Cribbs allegedly had over a pound of fake pot in 20 or 30 bags in his backpack when his probation officer and a Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force agent paid him a surprise visit at his work last week. Cribbs also allegedly had over $2,000 in cash on him at the time, and he was taken into custody. He’s been charged with 2 felonies, and his bail has been set at $25,000. Synthetic marijuana has been illegal in Minnesota since August 1st.
