The top write-in candidate for one of the open seats on the Sleepy Eye School Board has decided to accept the position. There was one seat on the board that had gone unfilled in the election earlier this month, and 38-year-old Bryan Sellner received a total of 92 write-in votes – even though he was not actually campaigning for the seat. Sellner is a 1992 graduate of Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s with degrees in Service Electronics and Electronic Engineering. He currently works at 3M in New Ulm. He and his wife Sarah have 3 children. Sellner says that the first and foremost challenge facing the Sleepy Eye School District is funding. He will begin serving his two-year term on January 1st. The other candidates elected to the Sleepy Eye School Board on Election Day were incumbent Darla Remus and newcomers Jon Riederer and Joleen Dittbenner, all of whom will serve four-year terms.
