A 19-year-old rural New Ulm man was involved in a stand-off with police on Wednesday that lasted for over 4 hours before he turned himself in. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office had received a 911 call on a domestic assault incident at a residence on 225th Street at shortly after 11:30am, and when deputies arrived on the scene they learned that Erick Alade Fredrick Bunce had physically assaulted a woman in the home and was currently somewhere in the house with a shotgun. Bunce had apparently barricaded himself inside the home, and after numerous attempts to contact him authorities got him to surrender peacefully at just before 4 o’clock. He was taken to the New Ulm Medical Center as a precaution before being transferred to the Brown County Jail. Charges of domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call are pending.
