A New Ulm man accused of embezzling around $100,000 in funds from 2 Brown County organizations pleaded guilty to felony theft on Tuesday. 59-year-old Robert James Reinhart is accused of taking approximately $92,000 from the Brown County Agricultural Society and nearly $8,000 from the New Ulm Baseball Association while serving as the treasurer of those organizations. He was charged with a total of 16 felony counts, and pleaded guilty to 2 of them in court on Tuesday. His sentencing is set to take place December 31st. As part of the plea agreement, Reinhart’s attorney presented an $80,000 restitution check in court on Tuesday. Reinhart has said he always intended to pay the money back.
