A southern Minnesota mayor facing criminal charges was voted out of office on Election Day. Ceylon Mayor John Dennis Gibeau faces domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call charges after allegedly shoving his estranged wife and taking away her cell phone during an incident in May. The 35-year-old was first elected mayor of Ceylon in 1998, and served until 2004 before being re-elected in 2006. Gibeau had 2 challengers in the mayoral race, and he came in third place. He’s facing up to 90 days in jail on the charges against him.
