It appears that the Minnesota constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between one man and one woman in has been defeated. With over 99% of the state’s precincts reporting in as of this (WED) morning, the “No’s” for the marriage amendment were ahead by over 107,000 votes. The vote was close in many greater Minnesota counties, and in the local area only Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties had a “No” majority. Exit polls showed that a strong majority of voters under 30 voted against the gay marriage ban, while other age groups were more closely divided. A majority of women were against the ban while a majority of men supported it. The “Voter ID” amendment was also defeated, and by an even wider margin.
