The Community Friends Thanksgiving Dinner is taking place again this year in New Ulm. The annual meal has been taking place for around 25 years now, and more than a thousand members of the community were served last year. Dozens of turkeys and hundreds of pounds of other food will be prepared over the next few days. Community Friends Spokesperson Jim Thomas says that the preparation shifts into high gear on Wednesday. Around a hundred volunteers are involved in preparing and serving the family-style meal. It takes place from around 11:15 to 1:30 on Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in New Ulm. Freewill donations are encouraged. Those planning to eat-in or take-out food, or anyone interested in volunteering their time should call (507)359-1479 ahead of time.
