With the holiday season fast approaching, the need for blood across the nation remains as great as ever. The cancellation of hundreds of blood drives along the East Coast due to Superstorm Sandy has resulted in a shortfall of thousands of donations. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be making multiple stops around the local area this week, including in New Ulm. Today (MON), eligible donors can give blood at the Amboy Presbyterian Church from 1:30 to 6:30 or the Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg from 12:30 to 6:30. On Tuesday there’s a blood drive at New Ulm Cathedral High School from 7:30am to 1:30pm, and at the Assembly of God Church in Redwood Falls from Noon to 5. The St. James National Guard Armory will host the annual Thanksgiving Day Blood Drive from 7:30 to 11:30am on Thursday. On Friday there are blood drives at the River’s Edge Clinic in St. Peter from 10am to 4pm and the Le Sueur Community Center from 9am to 2pm.
