The American Red Cross is holding multiple blood drives around the area this week in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Local Red Cross Spokesperson Kathy Staple says that the recent hurricane greatly affected the nation’s blood supply. More than 100 blood drives have been cancelled due to the storm, in which over 3,000 units would have been collected. Today (MON) there are blood drives being held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm from 1 to 7pm, at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur from 1 to 7, and at Martin Luther High School in Northrop from 12:30 to 5:30. On Tuesday eligible donors can give blood at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter from Noon to 6 and at St. John Evangelical Church in St. Clair from 1 to 6. Wednesday has another Gustavus blood drive from Noon to 6, and on Thursday you can Give The Gift Of Life at the Darfur Town Hall from 12:30 to 5:30.
