A Belle Plaine police officer is on leave after being arrested for DWI early Tuesday morning. 32-year-old Bryan Pasek was off-duty when he was pulled over at just before 2:30am for allegedly going 96 miles an hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone between Jordan and Belle Plaine. Pasek’s blood-alcohol level was reportedly .17 at the time, or more than twice the legal limit. He was released after posting bond. This is not Pasek’s first DWI, either. He was arrested for gross misdemeanor DWI in the fall of 2003 in Scott County. That charge was later dropped to a misdemeanor, and Pasek served a year of probation. He has been with the Belle Plaine Police Department for 10 years. The Scott County Attorney’s office has forwarded the latest case to Carver County to avoid any possible conflict of interest.
