Authorities in Sibley County are investigating a series of break-ins that occurred in the cities of Winthrop and Gaylord this week. Several Winthrop businesses were broken into, including GuidePoint Pharmacy, Tanker Bay, and Winthrop Lanes. In each incident both property and money were taken, and the phone lines were cut in at least one of the businesses. In Gaylord, unknown suspects gained entry to the Gaylord Legion through a roof vent and caused an undetermined amount of damage, although nothing was apparently stolen. An attempt was made to pry open the back door of Neisen’s Bar in Gaylord as well. There was reportedly substantial damage to the door, but no entrance was made. Authorities are also investigating whether these recent crimes are connected to a break-in at the Winthrop Car Wash that occurred in late September.
