Weekend number 2 of Oktoberfest in New Ulm gets underway on Friday, with festivities taking place at the Holiday Inn, downtown New Ulm, and the August Schell Brewery this weekend. The celebration downtown on Saturday is being billed as “Oktoberfest & More.” New Ulm Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Audra Shaneman says that there will be activities throughout the downtown area. The downtown Oktoberfest starts with a Kiddie Parade at 10:30am Saturday beginning at 1st South and travelling the wrong way down Minnesota Street to the Glockenspiel. Other highlights of the day include an exotic animal zoo, an arts and craft fair, storytelling, face painting, origami, an obstacle course, and much more. The musical entertainment downtown takes place from 11am to 5pm Saturday. The Holiday Inn Oktoberfest celebration will be 6pm to Midnight on Friday and Noon to Midnight on Saturday, and the first-ever August Schell Brewery Oktoberfest is from 11am to 5pm on Saturday.
