The New Ulm City Council on Tuesday approved a location for a proposed Dog Park for the community. South German Park was okayed as the ideal location for a dog park as recommended by the New Ulm Park and Rec Department. A total of 10 potential sites were reviewed. The dog park would consist of chain-link fence areas funded entirely by donations. The only potential cost to the city would be upkeep and maintenance. In other business Tuesday, the council approved an updated city budget for 2013 that brings the property tax levy increase for next year down from a 19% increase to just-over 4%. Public hearings will be held on the budget and tax levy in December. The council also approved a motion reappointing Paul Macho as New Ulm Fire Chief for 2013.
