The Nicollet School Board on Wednesday unanimously voted to terminate the employment of a school administrator accused of stealing nearly $1,500 in district funds. 31-year-old Justin Berg of rural Le Sueur County was charged Monday with felony theft and theft of public funds for allegedly taking ticket sales and concession stand money on several occasions. He denies the allegations, saying he was using his personal vehicle to transport the funds. Berg had initially reportedly admitted to the crimes after Nicollet County Sheriff’s Investigators set up motion-detecting cameras to catch the thief in the act. Following Wednesday night’s Nicollet School Board meeting, Nicollet Superintendent Jack Eustice announced that he would be immediately assuming Berg’s activity director duties, while Nicollet Principal Jennifer Baumgartner would take over his dean of students and community education director duties. Berg is due back in court November 27th.
