The Nicollet School Board on Monday accepted the resignation of the district’s activities director, who is accused of stealing around $1,500 from school event funds. The school board voted to terminate the employment of 31-year-old Justin Berg of rural Le Sueur County last week, but accepted his resignation Monday night instead. Berg also served as dean of students and director of community education for the Nicollet School District, but has now been charged with 2 counts of felony theft. Authorities say that he stole ticket sales and concession stand funds on numerous occasions. A hidden camera system reportedly caught him taking over $500 out of the school safe earlier this month. Berg reportedly admitted to taking the money and spending some of it on bills, gas and football cards. The remainder was found in his vehicle. He now claims that he was transporting the money to the concession stand.
