The Henderson City Council has chosen a new chief of police for the community. Interim Henderson Police Chief Pat Nienaber submitted his resignation last month due to time constraints, and recommended that Henderson Police Officer Randy Haken be considered for the job. Haken made a presentation to the council during it’s recent meeting, and with the expectation that he would attend additional training sessions in the near future the council approved of hiring Haken for the position. He is a Slayton native who also served on the Cleveland Police Department. He will take over the police chief duties in Henderson upon Nienaber’s resignation, which is effective October 31st. The city will maintain a crew of 5 part-time officers as well.
