The Lafayette Charter School is one of ten elementary schools in Minnesota and western Wisconsin to receive a $10,000 grant from Allina Health to promote healthy activities. The charter school will be provided direct access to Allina Health caregivers to help school staff respond to health issues affecting their school. The program will also provide online learning tools, teacher training and a health fair that will involve health screenings for both teachers and parents as a means to model healthy behavior for children. The hope is to also create an “Excersite” cluster of fitness stations geared toward children. The 10 schools selected for the grant were chosen through a competitive application process. More than 80 schools submitted applications.
