Minnesota Department of Transportation officials are warning that local motorists trying to shorten their trip to the new stretch of Highway 14 near North Mankato are creating unsafe driving conditions. It is illegal for motorists to drive through the median to access Highway 14. This is also dangerous – Highway 14 traffic is not expecting motorists to go around the barriers and cannot see vehicles entering. The State Patrol will be increasing patrols in the area. Traffic from Nicollet County Road 6 should continue to use Nicollet County Road 77 to access Highway 14 until the roundabout at Nicollet County Road 41 is completed in November. The Highway 14 four-lane expansion and new interchange with County Road 41 will be complete by the end of the 2013 construction season.
