The Golden Gopher football team will have today off and return to the practice field tomorrow. Minnesota lost at Wisconsin 38-13 on Saturday, in a game that saw true freshman quarterback Phillip Nelson of Mankato make his college debut. Nelson was a record-setting quarterback at Mankato West High School, last year accounting for a state record 55 touchdowns. He was 13-for-24 for 149 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday against the Badgers. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 67 yards on the ground against Wisconsin. The U of M hosts Purdue for a 2:30 p.m. game on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
