Wildlife managers are predicting good luck for hunters when Minnesota’s firearms deer season opens this Saturday. Minnesota’s deer population is reportedly up from last year thanks to a mild winter. The mild weather meant that more adults survived, so more fawns were born. The state’s current deer population is estimated at about 1-million. Last year, Minnesota’s nearly 500,000 deer hunters harvested a total of 192,300 deer.
