October marks the first full month of Fall — and also the official start of Minnesota’s flu season. The state Health Department is gearing up for the fight, pushing for Minnesotans to get a flu shot. Looking at last season’s totals, there were around 30 influenza-related deaths in the state and more than 550 people were hospitalized. Health officials say last season was rather odd as statewide flu cases continued all the way into mid-May. The Health Department will start updating flu statistics weekly beginning this month.
