The Faribault Police Department is now looking into sexual abuse allegations against several former teachers at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School. Ex-drama instructor Lynn Seibel was charged Monday, another alleged victim claims abuse by a second teacher in the 1970s or ’80s, and a teacher accused of a sexual relationship with a foreign exchange student committed suicide in 2008. Police Chief Don Gudmundson says it appears there has been a problem at the school. Gudmundson describes the school’s participation in the investigation as “less than forthcoming.” In a statement Shattuck-Saint Mary’s said the school “has a zero tolerance policy on issues of harassment, discrimination and criminal behavior that applies to faculty, staff and students.” School officials say policies have “evolved steadily over the last two decades.”
