Two campers were destroyed in a fire at a Fairmont-area campground on Monday. The fire at RJ’s Campground 8 miles south of Fairmont was reported at just before 1pm Monday when a passerby noticed smoke. The large black plume could reportedly be seen several miles away. The fire was quickly contained, but there was not enough left of the camper trailer where the fire started to determine the cause of the blaze. Fire crews spent about two hours at the scene, and firefighters from Ceylon and Armstrong provided Mutual Aid. Total damages are being estimated at around $30,000. No injuries were reported.
