Changes At NU Kraft Plant 25 Oct 12

Kraft Foods has announced upcoming changes to it’s New Ulm plant which could affect as many as 90 positions there. The New Ulm plant will be restructuring throughout 2013, along with 2 other plants as the company works to consolidate product lines and increase efficiency. In New Ulm they’ll be adding $25-million worth of new packaging equipment and related infrastructure, but will discontinue the production of Velveeta. Kraft expects to eliminate the equivalent of 80 full-time hourly workers and 10 salaried positions at the New Ulm plant, but the majority of those reductions will reportedly be done through early retirement incentives and attrition.
