A combine is being blamed for starting a fire in a Blue Earth County corn field twice on Wednesday. Firefighters from Amboy were called out to the fire in a field off 494th Avenue just west of Amboy at around 10:30 Wednesday morning. The Lewisville Fire Department was called in for mutual aid a short time later, and the fire was extinguished after about an hour. The farmer then reportedly continued harvesting, and his machinery apparently started a second fire. Fire crews returning to the scene had the new blaze under control within minutes. No injuries were reported in either of the fires.
