A trial date has been set for a 23-year-old Mankato man accused of savagely beating an Owatonna man and leaving him for dead this past July in rural Blue Earth County. Dustin Lee Murilla faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, assault, aggravated robbery, theft and false imprisonment. The 2 had reportedly been smoking methamphetamine together when Murilla assaulted the 25-year-old man. His trial is now set to begin on February 5th, and numerous witnesses are expected to be called. Murilla has previous convictions for shooting at a man in New Ulm’s German Park, threatening a witness and assaulting a man in Mankato in April. He remains in custody in Blue Earth County with bail set at $150,000 for the attempted murder charges.
