Southern Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz visited the City of New Ulm Thursday. Walz toured the Parker Hannifin facility in New Ulm and discussed new initiatives that ensure that returning veterans find good-paying jobs. Parker Hannifin and other New Ulm businesses have been using these initiatives to hire veterans. Walz says the initiatives give veterans a choice on where to live and raise their families. He says that New Ulm is one of the best communities in America because of companies such as Parker hiring vets. Parker Hannifin is a manufacturer of motion and control technologies, and has over 110 employees at their New Ulm plant. They also have several open positions, including for skilled veterans. Congressman Walz authored 2 bills dealing with veterans that were signed into law this summer. One makes it easier for vets to utilize the skills they learn in the military for jobs back home, the other expands job protection for members of the Armed Forces.
