The American Red Cross office in Olivia remains open, despite the fact that the building the office is located in was destroyed by a fire recently. On September 9th an arsonist started a fire in the doorway of the building, which also housed the Renville County Food Shelf. Everything in the office and storage areas were destroyed and had to be disposed of. In spite of the fire, the Red Cross remains able to respond to disasters, collect blood and continue first aid and CPR training. The Red Cross Offices in New Ulm and Mankato have been providing additional support on an as-needed basis. The Renville County Food Shelf was re-opening this (WED) morning at the Dirk’s Home Theatre building on South Ninth Street in Olivia, about a block north of its former location.
