The low water levels on the Blue Earth River have caused the operators of the Rapidan Dam to shut down both of the dam’s generators. The dam is currently not generating electricity because of the near-record low waterflow rates. At full capacity the Rapidan Dam can produce enough electricity to power around 3,000 homes. Officials say that no businesses or residences have experienced any loss of power due to the dam’s generators being shut down, and that maintenance is currently being done on the generators in the meantime.
