A Darwin man remains in critical condition following a 13-hour standoff with police in McLeod County over the weekend. More than 50 law enforcement officers from 7 different agencies, including SWAT Team personnel, were called to the farm near Hutchinson Saturday afternoon after a report of shots being fired. The standoff ended early Sunday morning after 46-year-old Ryan Earl Hartman apparently shot himself in the head with a shotgun and was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Investigators say an initial shot fired by Hartman was apparently a warning to others living at the residence. No one else was injured over the course of the standoff with Hartman. The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office says that he had been wanted on assault charges, and that other charges are now pending.
